There are a few different things that can cause low water pressure. If you notice it in only one fixture – your shower, for example – but the rest of your house has good water pressure, it’s a problem with that fixture.
One simple way to fix this is to get a plastic bag big enough to fit the water spout part of your plumbing fixture. Fill it with vinegar, and tie it around the fixture in a way that the water spout stays submerged in the vinegar. Leave it there for a few hours, then take it off and let the fixture run. This cleans out the mineral buildup inside your fixture.

That might be sewer gas, and it’s not supposed to happen. Each of your drains should have a piece of pipe in it called a p-trap, or just a trap. It’s designed to stay full of water at any given time, which blocks that sewer gas from coming into your house. A smelly drain might be a sign that there’s a problem with your trap.
